What is Fasting?
It is abstaining from food for a specific period of time. Fasting is a voluntary effort of the physical body to please the Lord by submitting our flesh as a holy and pleasing sacrifice to God. Rom. 12:1
The Daniel Fast is a partial fast of 21 days (or 3 weeks) inspired by the book of Daniel in the Bible (primarily Daniel 1:12 and Daniel 10:2-3). It is a diet based on natural, plant-based foods, similar to a strict vegan diet, without processed foods, sugars, meats, or dairy. The main purpose is spiritual: to draw closer to God through prayer and fasting, not just to lose weight.
Daniel 10:2–3 (KJV):
2 And I, Daniel, was afflicted in those days for three weeks.
3 I ate no choice food, neither did meat nor wine enter my mouth, nor did I anoint myself with ointment, until the three weeks were completed.
What does fasting do?
Unleash power
Unleash blessings
Cause spiritual breakthroughs
Unleash an outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Break generational curses
Detoxify the body by eliminating toxins from your system
If this is your first time fasting, it is recommended that you:
If you have a health problem, you must consult a healthcare professional.
If you are taking any medication, you must consider this.
You must consider the day or days you will present your fast to the Lord.
You must have your requests clear during the fast.
But above all, during your fast, you must maintain intimate communion with God, seeking Him in prayer.
The fast or diet is the same for all 3 weeks.
There are no different phases or changes per week; it is constant for the 21 days. Many plans divide the fast into 3 weeks only to organize weekly menus, but the rules do not vary.
